Harvest Festival Assembly

19th September 2014

It was lovely to see so many parents and friends at our Harvest Assembly. Class 1 showed pictures of the fruit and vegetables in the song ' cauliflowers, cabbages...' and Class 2 sang 'Oats and Beans and Barley Grow'. We were very pleased to welcome Mr Leuchers from Denny Abbey Farmland Museum, who took us through farming in East Anglia, past and present, and explained why tractor power is measured in horse power (hp). Classes 3 and 4 sang a Harvest Samba, and we all sang 'Michaelmas Daisies'. The children brought gifts of dried and tinned foods, to be donated to Jimmy's Nightshelter in Cambridge. We all reflected and gave thanks for how fortunate we are to eat each day, and thought about the people in the world who did not know where their next meal would be coming from.
