Welcome to Goldfinches Class
Mrs Debbie Morris - Goldfinches Class Teacher
This half-term, P.E. is on Mondays and Fridays. Children will now be changing into PE kit at school, so please ensure that your child has their PE kit in school all week, bringing it on a Monday and taking it home on a Friday for washing as needed. This is essential as our PE day may change at short notice or there may be sports activities on other days.
Please use the links below to find out more information about our class.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing the office on office@fowlmere.cambs.sch.uk who will pass your message on.
Thank you for your support.
A Charm of Goldfinches!
Autumn 1 Highlights
We have come to the end of a busy and productive first half term and have some photos that we would love to share with you to show you what we have been getting up to in our lessons.
Gymnastics
Firstly, in gymnastics this half term we have been working on 'Patterns and Pathways'. We have concentrated on building our strength and flexibility and worked hard to create routines that included travelling, symmetrical and asymmetrical arm shapes
Science
In Science, we have been learning about the digestive system using a variety of models. We learnt about the key organs in the digestive system and spent some time studying teeth and thinking about what different types of teeth tell us about an animal's diet.
We also studied our own teeth using mirrors and then made accurate models of our individual teeth using salt dough.
Our Trip to West Stow
In October, we were lucky enough to travel by coach to West Stow in Suffolk. West Stow is a famous archaeological site containing a recreation of an Anglo-Saxon village, built on it's original footprint. We have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons in our History lessons and early Anglo-Saxons lived at West Stow from 420-650 A.D. We were able to spend time handling replica artefacts, looking around an well-stocked museum and even dressing up in Anglo-Saxon style clothes. We all agreed that looking around the reconstructed houses was our highlight, although opinion was split about exactly which house was our favourite!
