Science Week

16th March 2018
As part of National Science Week and the Cambridge Science Festival, the school has celebrated science in all its incarnations in its own Science Week. Over the course of the week children experienced:
  • A dramatic introduction with an assembly from the Chemistry Department at the University - with all the associated bangs and pops! They even managed to explode hydrogen in Mr Martin's hand!
  • A visit to Melbourn Village College for Year 4 to experience some different experiments in the science labs.
  • A visit from Sawston Village College to look at the impact of caffeine as a drug on living things.
  • A range of parent talks covering such diverse topics as engineering, micro-organisms, DNA and biorhythms.
  • A theatre visit from Quantum Theatre.
  • A set of demonstrations from Ion Science focusing on states of matter: solids, liquids and gases.
  • A Friday Assembly with a series of Physics experiments led by a parent.
Our thanks go to all the volunteers and organisations who have contributed to such an exceptional science week. Thanks too to Miss Love for organising all the various talks and events. Have a look at the photos below for a taste of what has been taking place.
